1. Our promise in plain words
We collect only what OrBible needs to work. We never sell your data. Your saved verses and playlists are yours.
2. What we collect, and what we don’t
We believe Scripture meditation is personal. Here is exactly what we handle:
- Personal & Church Accounts: When church leaders register, we store your name, email address, role, church details, and encrypted passwords. Regular app users meditating privately do not need to register or provide personal credentials.
- Playlists and Verses: Playlists and saved Scriptures you curate for personal reflection remain stored on your local device. When you share a playlist link or QR code, only the selected verse references and title are hosted so recipients can listen.
- Diagnostics & Feedback: If you submit feedback or report a bug, we collect the details you voluntarily provide (device model, operating system, app version, and description) to help our engineering team solve the issue.
- What we never collect: We do not track your location, monitor your reading habits, record audio from your microphone, or sell personal profiles to advertisers or third-party brokers.
3. Why we use it
We process data solely to deliver, protect, and improve the OrBible experience under lawful and recognized standards (including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the GDPR):
- Service Delivery: To deliver scheduled verse alerts, play audio meditations, sync church schedules, and provide customer support.
- Consent: When you subscribe to notification reminders or opt into email communications, you provide consent which you may revoke at any time.
- Security & Compliance: To prevent fraud, protect church communities from spam or harassment, and comply with applicable statutory obligations.
4. Notifications
OrBible schedules verse reminders locally on your device so that Scripture returns to your attention throughout the day. Reminders require explicit permission from your mobile device operating system (iOS or Android). You have complete control to set your schedule, quiet hours, pause active sessions, or turn off alerts entirely in the app or device settings.
5. Third-party services
We work with a minimal set of trusted infrastructure providers who meet rigorous data security standards:
- Paystack: Securely processes patron gifts and payments. We never see or store your payment card numbers, bank pins, or account credentials.
- Hosting & Cloud Infrastructure: Our secure web servers transmit all data over encrypted HTTPS/TLS connections.
- No Ad Networks: We do not integrate with third-party advertising tracking SDKs, surveillance trackers, or data aggregators.
6. Churches and your data
When you join a church community or small group playlist using a code or link, church administrators receive aggregate totals only (such as the number of active saves or group size). Churches never see an individual member’s private devotional habits, personal notes, or notification timings.
7. Keeping and deleting your data
We retain church account information for as long as your church maintains an active registration on OrBible. You have the right to request access to your information, correction of inaccuracies, or complete deletion of your account and associated records by emailing privacy@orbible.com. Local app data can be deleted at any time by clearing your device cache or uninstalling the app.
8. Children
OrBible is designed to be family-safe and provides wholesome Scripture content suitable for all ages. In accordance with COPPA and global child online privacy standards, we do not knowingly collect personal identifying information from children under the age of 13. Church registrations must be initiated by adults or authorized ministry leaders.
9. Changes and contact
We may periodically update this policy to reflect new features or regulatory requirements. Any updates will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. For privacy questions, data requests, or feedback, contact our privacy team at privacy@orbible.com.
